LET'S TALK ABOUT HISTORY

When Pablo Lizardo Sr. was the mayor of Sagada in 1963, a tragic road incident happened along the municipal road passing through the Langtiw woodland going to Suyo, Ankileng in the southern part of Sagada.

The rural doctor who was driving the jeepney was found guilty of homicide thru reckless imprudence, following the death of one of his two nurse passengers. The case even levelled up to the Court of Appeals in 1981 but still the doctor was found guilty of all the charges against him.

The driver went  over-speeding, leading the car to fall into the right side of the road which was a cliff above the Uud creek. The car landed 8 feet below the road and was blocked by a pine tree.

The victim was found dead lying on the creek bed tens of meters away from the road.

Then Mayor Pablo went to the crime scene and made his own investigation that became part of the legal documents against the doctor.

In his testimonies, Mayor Pablo said that he found the jeep at second gear not long after the incident occurred.

The nurse was Elena Awichen and the doctor was Dr. Saturnino Bayasen.
