New installed chief justice Maria Lourdes Sereno has a net worth of P18M. The figure is five million miles away from Sharon Cuneta’s P1B TV5 talent fee.

After she was appointed to the Supreme Court, she was able to purchase a lot at Filinvent East for P2.1 M. Her Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) says nothing about her acquisitions after going against the impeached former CJ Renato Corona.

Her SALN divulges that she has an income of P1M as an associate justice.

Good for her, she immediately opened her “wealth listing” upon arriving at the SC’s highest position. She learned lessons from her predecessor who was impeached due to SALN inaccuracies.

Sereno’s husband Mario Jose is an executive director at the Association of the Petrochemical Manufacturers of the Philippines. In short, the family is rich (not necessarily super rich so let's not question where she got her P18M).

She is the first woman chief judge of the country. She revealed her SALN to prove that she is committed to transparency and accountability (what a cliché).

And her liability? She flanked her psychological and psychiatric evaluation ratings. The Judicial and Bar Council knows that. However, the results do not matter because even the president has been hiding his psychological report. #onlyinthephilippines

Let's give her a chance to reinvent our justice system. Let's give her a chance to prove that her psychological and psychiatric evaluation ratings are no big deal in serving the Filipino people.
