Cheezy Chiz Escudero and the Juicier Truth

Asking Google about Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero is a bit disappointing. Reading these two articles to know more about the cheesy politician is even juicier.

Why? Because Google will only show links about the senator’s affair with GMA7 actress Heart Evangelista. Do you think such stories matter to the Filipino people who voted for Chiz? Not at all.

Isn't it that we are more interested in what the Mr. Escudero has done throughout his  years of service? No one cares about his unsuccessful marriage; no one cares if he and Heart are really dating or just doing some publicity stunts.

I first heard about Chiz when I was in college. He was cute, and almost all political animals in our school were talking about him. I was amazed with his oratory skills. He speaks fluent Tagalog/Filipino and is really convincing. He speaks about rights of Filipinos and the “dapat ginagawa" of the government. He was a Congressman then, and I always saw him on TV. I even remember writing “I wanna be the next Chiz”.

Now, I am  a full citizen of this country paying my taxes and voting for my trusted leaders. In other words, I have matured enough to know the reality that some leaders who speak a lot on TV have no time doing their duties. Instead of spending time drafting bills and managing missions to help the depressed, oppressed, poor, and the exploited, some leaders are so busy attending parties and facing the camera.

Janette Toral, a respected social media expert, recalls that years ago when she asked Chiz of a single law that he would author or pass, his answer was a very stirring one: “guarantee accessibility of education to all Filipinos up to college and not only up to high school.” Wow, sold out!

In Toral’s chat with him, the cutie pie was quoted “Believe in giving enough resources to public schools up to tertiary level so that they can compete with private schools. Let prices be driven by market competition”. McKayla Maroney must be impressed with his brilliance!

I tried challenging my memory to identify all the worthwhile projects and laws Chiz accomplished that I can remember. And it seems I was giving myself a tough job. Mama Mia, I cannot recall one! Except that I can remember him with Kris Aquino on TV and his interviews on TV Patrol.

As of now, what sticks on my mind is his affair with Heart. Oh no, bad memory! Ideally, he must be remembered for a law he passed or a project he spearheaded. Sorry, but that's the truth.

I have this reservation that the Chiz and Heart will end up tying the knot. They are both in love with each other. I believe everything is real (besides, look at their age difference). If they decide to wed, they should not set their wedding date days before an election (promise, it will just hurt everything).

Did you know that Chiz is one of the lawmakers who signed the Anti-Cybercrime Prevention Act. However, he admitted it was a mistake. What? Okay, I was paying my taxes for him to commit such mistake then.

Despite everything, everybody still loves him. I have no idea how great he is to his own people in Sorsogon.

Anyway, let us just wait for updates about him (with his political career, not his love-life unless he decides to mix both) on the Philippines Election and Search Influencer sites.

Whaw. You moved me to think twice about this guy. I like him. I just do.. Maybe because I always see him on TV. He's cute. Not that cute but cute for his age. Yeah you're right. He speaks well. He is convincing. But we were on the same page when I tried remembering his contribution as a Senator. I'm still not convinced though that he did nothing. I mean, he had the position for quite a while now. Dunno. I just like him with or without Heart. I mean, he doesn't need someone like Heart just for the sake of winning the election. He had gained public trust right from the start. Trying to regain his image from his annulled marriage? I don't think so. Whether he did least or nothing at all, I still like him. He should thank Media. (laugh) (*.*)

I will still vote for him,who knows he might do something better for the country now that he is inspired. I am not Heart Evangelista's fan at all, but what can we do? The gentleman from Bicol is in love. Btw, great article Mr. Aligo. :)
