A morning by the seaside is always defined by the innocent sun making its way through the dark, thick night.

However, Microtel by Wyndham in Puerto Princesa, Palawan has another definition that my two-night stay with them incomparable.

During my first morning in the hotel, I found myself looking for that ordinary sunrise offered by any beach facing the east.

On that very lucky morning, I thought I would be seeing couples running on the beach as the sun starts to win over clouds with its feather-like gentleness.

However as I slid the door to access the open sea from our room in the two-storey abode, the view of a handful of mangrove trees waving goodbye to the high tide greeted my sleepy eyes.

A variety of birds were playing around the beach as I stretch my body hoping all the day's luck will be mine.

In the distance, the sun was just playing a minor character. It painted different colors to the thick clouds dangling from the sky trying to touch the sea.

I know I am not Isabella Bird but I can define the sunrise view as a “ a pale kiss of the day”. Now I know why families opt to stay at that Microtel hotel despite its distance from the airport.

We traveled for almost half an hour from the airport to reach Microtel by Wyndham Puerto Princesa. The staff members were simply accommodating; the first favor I asked was a cup of water because I was really thirsty the night we arrived.

Microtel by Wyndham Puerto Princesa does not have that beach zone that is as “swimmable” as that of Boracay or Puerto Galera. It has its own humble swimming pool for those who want to take a dip.

I noticed guests, mostly those who just want a dose of isolation from the metropolitan stress, love sitting on the benches facing the beach. I also spent minutes wondering why God made me lucky to witness that genuinely beautiful scenery that is still lingering in my mind.

I know you've been wondering why I am not posting photos of the sunrise that I kept on describing. Here we go!
