PNOy’s State of the Nation Address Last Year: Wazzup!

On Monday, our President Benigno S. Aquino (no more C. or Cojuanco) will be delivering his State of the Nation Address. Let us go back to his older promises.

1.    No to wang-wang.

Ask Zyann Ambrosio about this. The ABS-CBN reporter knows if the "anti-wangwang" campaign was effective. The ABS-CBN News report last week was really anti-PNoy. The report was saying all the promises of our dear "yellow" president were really terribly unaccomplished.

And I say "I told you so".

2.    “West Philippine Sea” slash South China Sea is ours.

We are making fun of our weakness. How can we get South China when we cannot even tame Mindanao? We cannot go to war (sorry fully-decorated soldiers) against China. This is indeed a dream.

There are more relevant matters to talk about. I would like to hear more about the K to 12, which is I believe PNoy's greatest instalment. And I fully support K to 12.

3.    Fight hunger and poverty.

What’s new? Tell Kris Aquino to donate all the bags of milk of Bimby to the poor children in remote areas. Poverty is really a cliché. It has never been solved.

We say we are poor. And we go to SM for shopping. We buy two mobile phones. We gamble. We travel to other countries. We drink liquor. We dine in expensive restaurants. And we still say Philippines is poor.

4.    Business and the economy in the Philippines are improving as evidenced by a boom in investors and new businesses.

Thanks to Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

5.    Pay your taxes, the proper amount please!

Paging Manny Pacquaio! Please proceed to the Bureau of Internal Revenue immediately. You have two seconds to do so. We would like to advise Aling Dionisia to keep calm also (keep on dancing my dear).

6.    The nation increased its security.

Security from Claudine Barretto and Raymart Santiago! No terrorists in the Philippines. We only have neighbours who enjoy scaring us with their ghost stories.

7.    The unemployment rate went from 8% to 7.2%.

Thanks to call centers. Thanks to Korean institutions that have no permit to operate. Thanks to the creation of "nursemaid". Thanks to networking businesses. Thanks to other countries.   In the next century, we will be exporting manpower also to Mars, Venus and Saturn.
